Book It, a local charity that supplies new books to children and schools that otherwise cannot afford them, announces a new web-based fundraising drive via GoFundMe.com

Greenwich High School students, Alexandra Reice and Layne Oram, established the GHS Book It club in 2015 out of recognition that the ownership of new books by underprivileged children instills a pride of ownership that in turn will foster a love of reading throughout their lives, making them better students and more aware citizens. Through the funds it raises via GoFundMe and direct contributions, Book It purchases and donates books to local shelters and schools for distribution to young readers.

Despite the apparent wealth of Greenwich and its surrounding towns, there are still many local families and schools that are financially struggling and don’t have the funds to purchase new books for their children and students. Book It club members are dedicated to getting new books into the hands of as many new readers as possible, and they’ve already donated over 100 new books to the New Lebanon School. Book It has no overhead, thus 100% of all donated funds will be used to purchase books.
