“The Significance of the Battle of Fairfield Swamp Fight in the Pequot War”
May 13, 2017 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
“The Significance of the Battle of Fairfield Swamp Fight in the Pequot War” will be the subject of Professor Kevin McBride at the AAG meeting on Saturday, May 13 at 2 p.m. The lecture will be held at the Bruce Museum, One Museum Drive, Greenwich, Connecticut. Free to AAG, Bruce Museum members and students with ID. Non-member admission is $15.
Celebrating 380 years, the Pequot War (1636-1637) remains one of the most controversial and significant events in the Colonial and Native history of North America. Most significant were the battles of Mistick Fort and the Battle of Fairfield Swamp. Professor McBride’s lecture will explore the events leading up to the battles and the role that Battlefield Archaeology has in reconstructing the battle event, tactics and weapons used by the English and Pequot combatants.
