YMCA Runs Puerto Rico Disaster Relief Drive

The YMCA of Greenwich Early Learning Center held a disaster relief drive to benefit Puerto Rico in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria. Parents, children, and YMCA employees worked together on the effort, collecting items identified as “highest need”. Items included canned meats, canned vegetables, chlorine dioxide water purification tablets, medical supplies, hygiene kits, diapers, flashlights, and batteries. read more...

YMCA, Abilis Commemorate New Swim Program

The YMCA of Greenwich held swim evaluations on Sept. 24 for the children participating in the new special needs swim program. The Abilis Community Foundation generously awarded a $10,000 grant to the YMCA of Greenwich to develop a new swimming program for children with special needs. The course will teach basic water safety and swimming concepts to children with disabilities and their caregivers. The grant also allowed the YMCA to purchase special steps for our pool to make entry and exit easier for the special needs swimmers. read more...

Outdoor Menorah Lighting At YMCA

A cherished annual tradition of lighting a “Grand Menorah” in celebration of the Jewish holiday of Chanukah has been happening each year on the lawn of the YMCA of Greenwich. YMCA of Greenwich Hosts Annual Y Challenge

The YMCA of Greenwich will be hosting its fifth annual “Y Challenge” Sunday, Nov. 15 to raise money for the Y’s scholarship fund. This year’s theme, “Beat the Board” challenges Y staff versus board directors. Each team must acquire as many team points as possible by participating in games and relays based on some of the Y’s most popular activities. read more...
