Whitby School Commences Search For New Head of School

The Board of Trustees of The Whitby School announced that Jason Anklowitz, Head of School, has decided to step down from his position and will leave Whitby at the end of the 2018-2019 school year. The Board of Trustees has accepted his decision and formed a committee to conduct an immediate search for an Interim Head of School while they conduct a comprehensive search for a permanent Head. Whitby’s “Force for Change” Event Supports UNICEF Kid Power

A student group from Whitby School known as “The Rookie Wookies” hosted a “Force for Change” fundraiser supporting UNICEF Kid Power on Oct. 25. The event, co-sponsored by the Whitby Parents Association, took place in the Upper School Design Lab. “Ever since our first Star Wars event in 2016, we have been trying to host another one,” says 8th grader Kaitlyn Sandoval-Diaz, producer of the student video series, What’s Up Whitby. Kaitlyn continued, “After two years, ‘The Rookie Wookies’ are finally back! It’s especially great that all proceeds go to UNICEF Kid Power.” The October event raised $1,932.18 in funds, and a check was sent from Whitby School to UNICEF’s New York City office on Nov. 5. read more...

Whitby Celebrates Anniversary with Student-Run Logo Contest

2018 marks Whitby School’s 60th anniversary, and to commemorate the occasion, Whitby’s marketing team and Design Department empowered this year’s eighth graders to run a 60th Anniversary Logo Contest. Based on their design knowledge, eighth graders collectively determined the criteria for judging and parameters for entry, and narrowed the selections down to four entries, which were brought to a final vote on Facebook. The winning logo, designed by seventh grader Lauren Lindsey, is now being used on all 60th anniversary marketing materials through the end of the year. read more...
