Historical Society Panel on Immigration Support

Executives from organizations in Greenwich that have active support programs for refugees and immigrants will lead a panel discussion on how to assist new members of the community in making smooth and successful transitions. Open to the public, the forum takes place Nov. 20, 6 to 8 p.m., at the Greenwich Historical Society’s Vanderbilt Education Center. Historical Society members: $10, Non-members: $15. Panel to Discuss Wildlife Conservation

In conjunction with the summer exhibition “National Geographic Photo Ark,” the Bruce Museum will host “Conservation Conversation” on Tuesday, June 26, 6 to 8 p.m. This live, interactive discussion features a diverse array of local wildlife conservation experts including Gregg Dancho, Director of Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo; Peter Gottesman, Founder, Endangered Species Revenge; Jim Knox, Curator of Education at the Beardsley Zoo; Dara Reid, Director of Wildlife in Crisis; and Tim Walsh, Bruce Museum Collection Manager. read more...

Panel to Discuss Greenwich’s Economic Future

With Connecticut’s economy expected to feature prominently in the 2018 election season, the League of Women Voters of Greenwich is hosting a community forum on Tuesday, April 24 to discuss ways we can enhance economic competitiveness around our state. The event titled “Reimagining Our Economic Future: A 21st Century Vision for Our Town, State and Region,” will highlight policy proposals in a number of key areas, including transportation; business attraction and retention; commercial, residential and transit-oriented real estate development; downtown revitalization; and, climate change resiliency. The forum is being co-sponsored by the Town of Greenwich and the Greenwich Library, and will be held in the Cole Auditorium. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for refreshments and the program starts promptly at 7 p.m. Although admission is free, registration is required at League.RSVP@gmail.com by April 17. read more...
