The Walk/Run for Abilis is Oct. 14

Registration is open for the Oct. 14 Walk/Run for Abilis being held at Greenwich Point Park. The event includes a 3-mile run for runners of all levels and a 1-mile walk that is accessible to strollers and wheelchairs. This year, a larger children’s area with carnival games, arts and crafts, a bouncy castle, face painting and the very popular Bubble Bus will be featured. On-site registration opens at 7:30 a.m., Sunday, Oct. 14, with the run at 9 a.m. and the Walk beginning at 10 a.m., from the Clambake Area at Greenwich Point Park. Town Fireworks Displays Set for July 7

The Department of Parks and Recreation will present fireworks displays at Binney Park and Greenwich Point Park. Both displays are scheduled for Saturday, July 7, with a rain date of Sunday, July 8. The Binney Park Show will start at approximately 9:10 p.m. and the Greenwich Point Show will begin at approximately 9:35 p.m. It is strongly recommended that anyone planning to attend either display and especially the Greenwich Point display arrive early and bring a working flashlight. read more...

‘This Place Matters!’ Winners to be Announced

The Greenwich Historical Society will announce the winners of the “This Place Matters!” photography contest at a reception beginning at 10 a.m. on Founders Day, Tuesday, July 18, at Innis Arden Cottage, Greenwich Point Park. After the reception, weather permitting, there will be a Greenwich Founders’ Day Walk out to the Bluff where a bronze replica of the original July 18, 1640 deed is mounted on a boulder overlooking Long Island Sound.
