Bruce Museum Fall Family Day ‘Block Party’

The Bruce Museum will debut Imagination Playground blocks at its annual Fall Family Day on Sunday, Oct. 14. Made of a lightweight foam that is non-toxic and microbe resistant, the bright blue blocks come in a variety of shapes that can be creatively lined up, stacked, and connected, inspiring children to design their own imaginary objects and places. read more...

James Gurney to Present Art Workshop, Lecture

The Bruce Museum welcomes renowned artist and author James Gurney for two special public events: On Monday, Oct. 8, 6 to 7:30 p.m., the Museum will host an Art Workshop, “Techniques for Science Illustration with James Gurney.” And on Tuesday, Oct. 9, 6:30 to 8 p.m., Gurney will present the Marianne Smith Memorial Lecture, “How I Paint Dinosaurs: Art, Science, and Imagination.” read more...

Zoo Educator Brings Live Animals to Greenwich Point

On Sunday, Sept. 2, the Bruce Museum Seaside Center at Greenwich Point Park will host Jim Knox, zoologist and curator of education at Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo, along with a few live animals from the zoo. At 2 and again at 2:35 p.m., Knox will explore the international state of biodiversity and profile the zoo’s work with Species Survival Plans in Connecticut and beyond. Knox’s message of hope will be underscored by appearances by live animal ambassadors from the zoo including a recovered endangered species and a rescue animal ambassador. read more...
