GPD Detectives Visit Greenwich High School

A classroom inside Greenwich High School turned into a working Crime Scene Investigations Unit earlier this week, as students were treated to a visit from two Greenwich detectives.

Det. First Grade Bill Weissauer and Det. Sgt. Pierangelo Corticelli, both a part of the GPD’s Forensics Section, first gave a powerpoint presentation to forensics students. They also visited the school’s Murder Mystery Club.

Camillo, Oberlander Debate in Backcountry

On Tuesday night in the backcountry in front of a standing-room-only crowd of about 300 people inside the Round Hill Community House, First Selectman candidates Jill Oberlander, a democrat, and Fred Camillo, a republican, faced off in their final public debate before the Nov. 5 election.

Sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Greenwich and moderated by Jara Burnett of the League, the candidates were asked questions which were submitted by the Round Hill Association, Northeast Greenwich Association and Northwest Greenwich Association. They were also asked questions that were submitted by the public. Most of the questions focused on the backcountry.

There are a many serious topics facing our community, our state, and our nation. Often, we address those affecting Greenwich in this space and give our opinion. Such was the case last week when we supported the Board of Estimate and Taxation’s proposal to explain fully and publicly what happened during the 2017 election cycle.
