D.A.R Presents Good Citizens Award to Five Students

Putnam Hill Daughters of the American Revolution (D.A.R) presented the winners of the D.A.R Good Citizens award with a ceremony and desserts given by award Chairman’s, Dorothy Darlington and Sally Bretschger at Putnam Cottage on Nov. 8. The winners were selected by their house master and guidance counselor at Greenwich High School as the recipients of the D.A.R Good Citizen award for the five Greenwich High School houses. This prestigious award is given to five outstanding senior high school students (one from each house) who excel in qualities of academics, leadership, service, dependability, and patriotism in their home, school and community.  This award’s committee was created by a resolution of the Continental Congress of 1934. read more...

GHS Students Recognized for PSAT/NMSQT Performance

Fifty-two Greenwich High School (GHS) students have been recognized in the 2019 National Merit Scholarship Program, an annual academic competition for recognition and college undergraduate scholarships, based on their Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQTÒ) scores. Twelve GHS students qualify for scholarships in the National Merit program and forty-five have been recognized as Commended Students. Additionally, eleven GHS students have been named to the College Board’s National Hispanic Recognition Program, based on their PSAT/NMSQTÒ scores and other criteria. read more...

CT Pioneer Branch NLAPW to Hold Annual Exhibition in Town

The Connecticut Pioneer Branch of the National League of American Pen Women will have its Annual Exhibition of Art, Music, and Writing at the Gertrude White Gallery of the Greenwich YWCA, May 2 to 31. The group of professional area women will offer work centered around the theme “Spring Inspirations.” Participating visual artists include Lucie Anderes, Vivian Bergenthal, Carol Nipomnich Dixon, Grace Le Vander, Katia Streiff, Mary Fike, and Kathryn Shorts. read more...
