Peterson Concert: Young Beethoven, Trios Concert

December 15, 2020 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Free

In November 1792, Ludwig van Beethoven moved from his hometown Bonn, a center of the German Enlightenment, to Vienna, at that time the seat of the Holy Roman Empire. He took the town by storm, making his name as an astonishing piano virtuoso, and produced a series of compositions that trace the success and evolution of a musical genius making his way in an imperial capital.

Join us as we commemorate the 250th Anniversary of Beethoven’s birth with a streamed concert featuring less well-known masterpieces written in the years right after his move from Bonn to Vienna – the Op. 3 and Op. 9 string trios, chamber music works of near symphonic scope that preceded his string quartets, and the uncommon trio Serenade for Flute, Violin, and Viola, Op.25. This event is a collaboration between the Greenwich Library, The Chamber Players of the Greenwich Symphony, and the Flinn Gallery. The Peterson Concert Series is open to all at no charge through the support of the Greenwich Library Board of Trustees and generous donors.
