SUMMARY:Riverside Garden Club - Celebrating our Nation's 250th at Knapp's Tavern
DESCRIPTION:The Riverside Garden Club\, in celebration of our Nation’s 250th anniversary\, will be holding an Open Garden Day at Putnam Cottage\, also known as the Knapp Tavern\, on Sunday\, June 7 from 2-4 pm (rain date June 14). In 2024\, the Riverside Garden Club restored the herb garen at the Cottage where hops plants were discovered possibly similar to those used to make ale in the Knapp’s Tavern. We invite you to join us for a tour of the Colonial Herb Garden and some light refreshments.\nTwo Roads Brewery of Stratford has generously volunteered to brew ale using the hops grown at our colonial garden. Come sample what George Washington would have been served at the Knapp’s Tavern during his traverse through Greenwich 250 years ago. Don’t worry\, the hops we are using are not from President Washington’s time! \nParking for the event will be available both at the Cottage and across the street at Christ Church. \nWe want to thank the Putnam Cottage leadership and the generosity of Two Roads Brewery for making this event possible. To learn more about Two Roads\, go to their website: https://tworoadsbrewing.com. To learn more about the Riverside Garden Club and join us for a meeting\, go to https://riversidectgardenclub.org or email us at riversidectgardenclub.org.

SUMMARY:Hearing for the repurposing and reimagining of 100 Arch Street
DESCRIPTION:100 Arch Street\, commonly referred to as the Arch Street Teen Center\, will be the subject of two public hearings. The first will take place on June 15th in the Town Hall Meeting Room from 6:00–7:30 PM. \nThe hearing is organized by the First Selectman’s Task Force\, which has been charged with reimagining and repurposing this important town-owned building. \nLocated just off Exit 3 of I-95\, 100 Arch Street sits beside one of our town’s most treasured waterfront parklands — a site that has hosted some of Greenwich’s most beloved community events\, including the Greenwich Town Party\, Putting on the Dog\, the Greenwich Concours\, and many others. \nWith this in mind\, we invite the community to share their thoughts on the future of 100 Arch Street — including its connection to the waterfront and park\, and the community and commercial opportunities that could help this special place serve Greenwich for generations to come. \nThe Task Force will present previously developed park designs and other concepts for public discussion. \nIt is not often that a downtown waterfront building comes before the community for consideration of a new use\, look\, and purpose for the highest and best commercial and community uses. We urge Greenwich residents to attend\, voice their opinions\, and take part in this once-in-a-lifetime re-visioning exercise.
