Friends Friday Film Reel Talk: “Dead of Night”

October 9, 2020 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Stream the re-mastered version of Dead of Night on Kanopy from the comfort of your own home and then join the Friends Friday Film Reel Talk on Zoom for a fun and interactive discussion about this spine-tingling movie.

About Dead of Night (1945): Based on stories by H.G. Wells, John Baines, E.F. Benson, Angus MacPhail, individual segments directed by Alberto Cavalcanti, Charles Crichton, Basil Dearden, and Robert Hamer. It stars Mervyn Johns, Googie Withers, Sally Ann Howes, and Michael Redgrave. An architect visits a country house only to get trapped in a recurring nightmare involving tales of the occult told by fellow guests at the manor. A portmanteau work from four of Ealing Studio’s best directors, Dead of Night preyed masterfully on the post-war fears and paranoia of the 1940s.

Ed Morrissey, Greenwich Library’s Teen Librarian, will be moderating this film discussion — come with questions, thoughts and comments for a lively discussion.

This program is free of charge to all registrants; access to Kanopy streaming film service is available with a Greenwich Library card.
