Companion Book Author Talk: Nancy Churnin, Author of Manjhi Moves a Mountain

October 29, 2020 @ 4:00 pm

Cos Cob Library is honored to host a virtual reading and Q&A with award-winning children’s author Nancy Churnin, author of Manjhi Moves a Mountain. It’s the story of Dashrath Manjhi, who used a hammer and chisel, grit, and twenty years to carve a path through the mountain separating his poor village from the nearby village with schools, markets, and a hospital. Manjhi Moves a Mountain shows how everyone can make a difference if their heart is big enough. The book is on the 2021 Sakura Medal shortlist and is the 2020 Greenwich Reads Together Elementary School Selection. It is the winner of the 2019 Anne Izard Storytellers’ Choice Award, a 2018 South Asia Book Award, a 2018 Children and Teen’s Choice Book Awards finalist, a 2017 Junior Library Guild selection, and an Ezra Jack Keats Award finalist. Churnin is the author of eight children’s books, including Charlie Takes his Shot: How Charlie Sifford Broke the Color Barrier in Golf. This event is appropriate for elementary school students. Register on the Library website to receive the Zoom link.
