Editorial: Parenting 2.0

Last week’s editorial on Mother’s Day got us thinking and remembering our childhood in greater detail. It was pretty comical as we shared stories of our misadventures in the 1970’s. What emerged was a wonderment of how we, today’s parents, are so different from our own. Yes, moms are still putting their children first and there in that moment of pain to make their young charges feel better. But it’s what we were doing, what our parents allowed us to do, that make us wonder when we became so protective of our children. read more...

This Sunday is Mother’s Day. The cynics out there may say that Mother’s Day is nothing more than a day created by greeting card companies or florists to sell more of their wares. Parks & Rec Announces Provisional Beach Policy

The Dep. of Parks and Recreation announces the Provisional Beach Policy for the 2016 Season. Park passes are required at Greenwich Point and Byram Park beginning May 2 and Island Beach and Great Captain Island beginning June 11. For residents who possess a valid Resident Season Pass and a Resident Parking sticker, access will remain the same as last year. read more...
