Making a Difference, One Person at a Time
As a non-profit, mission-driven organization, the Avon Theatre Film Center strives to welcome and inspire members of the community, despite the many, very real challenges of the pandemic. Sometimes that inspiration comes from our typical art-house film selections, and other times it comes from the creative use of our beautiful facility. At the end of the day, it is the difference we make that truly matters.

Last week, Connecticut received 31,200 Pfizer vaccine doses, and the state was expecting another 87,765 this week. In Greenwich, elected officials are urging the community to take their shots in the arm when their turn comes up.

Reaching Out Grant Champions Make the Difference
Greenwich Alliance for Education's Reaching Out Grants program has funded $1.5 million since 2007. Reaching Out Grants inspire school and community educators to apply for funding to "level up" the educational experience for students and act as "champions" for these projects. Bridging the Digital Divide, AVID, Innovation Lab , and The Developing Artist are examples of the wide array of grants that have been awarded and have reached thousands of students in the Greenwich Public Schools.
The Magic of a Great Teacher
While every school must keep safety as their absolute top priority, it is difficult to overestimate the impact of having kids in school, learning in classrooms with great teachers.
