The Different Seasons of our Personal Lives

During the evening Rosh Hashanah Worship Service, I experienced severe orthostatic hypotension and a syncope event during my sermon. Subsequent testing has shown that my lymphoma is rearing its ugly head, and I will require new treatments. Fortunately, the miracle of modern medicine prompts a very optimistic outcome, and I will hopefully only need to make some minor adjustments while undergoing treatments. The message of my sermon last week happened to be that we each experience different seasons in our personal lives: spring, summer, fall, winter, and hopefully, spring yet again.

Seeing Clearly

With genuine effort the plank is gently removed from your eye and a new vision of those around you is revealed. Jesus, as he so often does, instructs us to turn our thinking upside down and assess ourselves first to gain a true vision of those in our world.

In Judaism, God’s Laws, whether ritual or ethical, are intended to prompt love and gratitude. In Hebrew, the “Ten Commandments” literal translation is the “Ten Declarations.” God’s “Ten Proclamations” are significant and essential expressions of God’s laws amidst the entire canon of Jewish law.
