With a fresh focus on holistic living and community connection, the Historical Society’s Tavern Garden Markets return to its Cos Cob campus on alternating Wednesdays in May, June, September and October, from 10am to 2pm. (Dates: May 17 and 31; June 14 and 28; September 6 and 20; October 4 and 18). Locally sourced farm-to-table produce, eggs, baked goods, flowers and distinctive, one-of-a-kind accessories and craft are back, layered with a series of special events for personal enrichment and wellness.
“We aim to deliver a more unique and holistic experience for customers this year,” says Dianne Niklaus, Director of Marketing and Communications. “Each market will have a featured vendor aligned with our mission to provide meaningful and enriching experiences to our community through a series of free Morning Market Talks at 9:30 am on market days in our Permanent Gallery.”
Meredith Geller, a holistic nutrition consultant and sister to Mike Geller of Greenwich-based Mike’s Organic, has come on board to help manage the events and instill a broader holistic element for driving community connection. “I love creating community and connection and am honored to be working with the Historical Society and being a part of bringing together beautiful food, artisans, artists and florists as well as an additional healing element to the Tavern Garden Markets this year!”
Yashmin Lloyds / Compass Real Estate is Tavern Garden Market sponsor for the third consecutive year. Among returning vendors are favorites such as Wave Hill Breads, Double L Market, Silvia’s Kitchen, Katie Bartels and Vivid Cottage. This year’s market welcomes new vendors including Nit Noi Provisions, Wildacre, Rochambeau Farms, The Silhouette Lady, Papinau Studio and Espalier Natural Botanics.
On May 31st, Demitra, a practicing Astrologer for 25 years, will discuss the gifts of the zodiac: how each sign is gifted with unique talents and abilities. Ceramic artist Leigh Taylor Mickelson will present a collection of her arresting, nature-inspired sculpture at the June 14th market. And on June 28th, Joel Dawson of Old Greenwich Honey will give an overview of his beekeeping process, the hive system and honey’s many health benefits. Space is limited for the talks and registration is recommended.
