After dedicating 25 years of her life to serving Greenwich and adjacent towns, Dr. Yvette Ghannam, Director of the Greenwich Health Department Laboratory, has announced her retirement in March 2023. Dr. Ghannam took the time to extend her thanks to the residents of Greenwich and its First Selectman, Fred Camillo, in a heartfelt letter.

Dr. Ghannam expressed her gratitude for having the privilege of working to provide the community with the best health services from the resources and facilities of the Greenwich Health Department Laboratory. During her time in the role, she was proud to lead the laboratory in conducting many bacteriological testing, health clinics, and educational health services in conjunction with the staff of the Greenwich Health Department. She was particularly proud of the lab’s long history of serving the community, which has now surpassed 100 years.

Dr. Ghannam also developed a professional friendship with the Greenwich Police Department, having taken the Greenwich Police Academy program. She recommends this program to all Greenwich residents as a great educational tool for personal safety and becoming aware of all the services the Greenwich Police Department provides.

In her letter, Dr. Ghannam highlighted what she will miss most about Greenwich, including the human factor of co-workers, friends, and residents. She also praised the cleanliness of the town’s streets and how well seniors and people with disabilities are treated, noting that she has observed many services to help them out.

As a non-resident, Dr. Ghannam highlighted Greenwich’s pristine environment and how well the town cares for its senior citizens and persons with disabilities. She was confident in stating that Greenwich does the best job of serving seniors and individuals with disabilities.

Greenwich First Selectman Fred Camillo responded to Dr. Ghannam’s letter, thanking her for her years of dedicated service to the community. He expressed the town’s good fortune in having her on the team and wished her continued success in her future endeavors. The town of Greenwich and its residents will certainly miss the contribution of Dr. Ghannam in the years to come.
