Riverside School to celebrate annual Veterans Day Ceremony

On Friday, November 11, Riverside School will host its annual Veterans Day Ceremony to honor service men and women, both past and present. An annual tradition for the past 22 years, the school will hold an outdoor event on the lawn. All the elementary classes at Riverside School are invited to participate along with a handful of volunteers, school staff, Riverside School parents and local veterans.

Principal Christopher Weiss will lead the event with traditional elements of the ceremony including the raising of the flag, the laying of the wreath, and participation in the Pledge of Allegiance. At the close of the ceremony, Riverside School alumni Veterans who died in foreign wars will be recognized.

“The Veterans Day Ceremony is a longstanding tradition at Riverside School where the community comes together to recognize Veterans and the critical contributions they have made to our country,” said Christopher Weiss, Principal, Riverside School, “We are proud of our tradition of honoring Veterans on this day and celebrating the contributions they make to our country.”

This year Police Chief Jim Heavey and Greenwich Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Toni Jones, among others, will be present at the ceremony.

The ceremony will kick off at 9am with the raising of the flag.
