In a statement issued by the Logan campaign, they said, “We’re closely monitoring the vote count, but given the results reported by the Secretary of State we’re confident that after all the votes are counted we believe George Logan will be the next Congressman from Connecticut’s 5th Congressional District.”
The unofficial results from the Secretary of State’s office show U.S. Congresswoman Jahana Hayes with a narrow 398 vote lead over challenger George Logan.
Automatic recounts are required when the margin is less than 0.5% of total votes cast for office but not more than 2,000 votes. This will likely be a race with an automatic recount.
