Public Donates to Fiorello’s Back-to-School Supply Drive

State Rep. Kimberly Fiorello (R-149th) hosted her Annual Back to School Supply Drive and volunteers distributed more than 1,000 essential school supplies for children attending Roxbury Elementary School in Stamford.

Inflation has caused the cost of food and school supplies to increase exponentially in the past year and “families in many communities often have to make the hard decisions on whether to buy important school supplies,” said State Representative Kimberly Fiorello.

“Education is fundamental for a child’s future and providing the appropriate learning tools is vital to ensure school children are confident to face the new academic year,” Fiorello said. “Unfortunately, this has been a particularly hard year for hard-working Stamford parents struggling to make ends meet and they cannot afford to buy basic school supplies for their children.”

“Initiatives like this provide local students with the necessities they need. This School Supply Drive is just another way in which I can keep delivering for our community and making sure our kids are ready to succeed,” said Rep. Fiorello, R-Greenwich and Stamford. “Thank you to everyone who donated.”

Items included folders, spiral notebooks, packs of construction papers, Post-Its, headphones and earbuds, child scissors, pens, pencils, pencil boxes, crayons, highlighters, markers, glue sticks and more. These were all items that had been identified by Roxbury School Principal Dr. Mark Bonasera and teacher Lisa Pomerance as needed supplies.
