Audubon holds Hawk Watch Kickoff, Intro to Hawk ID

Greenwich Audubon Center welcomes the community to its Hawk Watch Kickoff and Intro to Hawk ID on Saturday, August 27, 10:00am – 12:00pm.

An average of 20,000 hawks, eagles, falcons, and vultures migrate over Greenwich Audubon’s Quaker Ridge Hawk Watch every fall. Audubon naturalist Ryan MacLean leads this program where he will teach participants how to identify and count the raptors. Following a slide show introduction attendees will learn of the importance of hawk watches and how to distinguish the different shapes of hawks in flight.

The Quaker Ridge Hawk Watch will be staffed by official hawk counters every day (weather dependent) from August 25th through November 30th 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.. All are welcome to come assist in counting efforts and enjoy the magic of fall hawk migration!

This IN-PERSON program has a limited capacity and will start with an indoor slide show. Masks are encouraged to be worn during the indoor portion and are optional outdoors.
