Greenwich Police Department has over 150 officers, patrols 283 miles of roads and 24 miles of coastline, handles over 30,000 calls a year (2021), keeps 11 police cars on the road, and has trained EMTs and scuba divers on staff. The Department stays up-to-date with technology, including mobile data terminals, surveillance cameras, body cams, patrol fleet dash cams, and body armor (replaced every five years). Greenwich Police Department meets or exceeds all state mandated training requirements, but faces critical recruiting issues due to the large percentage of retirement-eligible officers, limited police academy training slots, and competition for hiring with other departments.
