Over 200 people gathered at the Greenwich Historical Society on May 12 to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the Greenwich Historical Society. Greenwich First Selectman Fred Camillo presented a proclamation declaring May 12 as the launch of Greenwich Historical Society’s ‘Discover Greenwich 90th Anniversary Celebration’. He urged Greenwich residents to participate in the months-long series of events being planned that promote a sense of place and belonging, spark dialogue and inspire meaningful connections across the community.

Greenwich Historical Society Executive Director and CEO Debra Mecky underscored the significance of the milestone in opening an exciting new chapter for the Historical Society’s commitment to preserving and interpreting Greenwich’s shared history, stories and rich experiences that have shaped Greenwich since its founding in 1640.

Discover Greenwich kicks off with walking tours that illuminate the stories that have made Greenwich the vibrant town it is today. Other activities include lectures, workshops and demonstrations that connect the past with contemporary hands-on learning experiences, and fun community events such as a scavenger hunt and picnics in the parks that create a sense of place and feeling of home.
