For several years, local non-profit, The Undies Project has been looking for a new home so that it can expand its operations. For the past 6 years it has operated out of the homes of co-founders Laura Delaflor and Lucy Langley.
They are excited to announce that they will be moving into space at Diamond Hill United Methodist Church at 521 East Putnam Avenue in Cos Cob.
“We realized a while ago that it was time to move out of our garages and homes and find a space where we could grow The Undies Project”, said Laura Delaflor. “The space is perfect for our operations and is convenient for our volunteers as they are all local”.
Lucy Langley said, “Not only are we thrilled to be moving into Diamond Hill United Methodist Church, but we are also relieved to no longer have to count and sort donations in our garages which are hot and humid in the summer, and cold in the winter. It has certainly been challenging at times. Our families have been so supportive of The Undies over the last 6 years and have totally believed in what we are doing, but I think they will also be pleased to have their homes back to normal!”.
Started in 2015 the mission of The Undies Project is to provide new underwear to men, women and children in need to improve their lives. For many, underwear is a necessity, not a luxury. The Undies Project donates underwear to more than 27 organizations in CT and NY who serve those who are homeless, living in shelters or who are on a low income. The need for new underwear is not only a huge, unmet need, but it has sadly been growing.
Rev. Johnson and The Board of Trustees said that, “”The Diamond Hill United Methodist Church Family welcomes The Undies Project as they establish their new headquarters in a portion of our Fellowship Hall”.
