GPD Asking for Assistance in Strong Arm Robbery Investigation

By Richard Kaufman

The Greenwich Police Department is asking the public for assistance in the investigation of a robbery that occurred on Feb. 14 in Riverside.

On Sunday at approximately 5:50 p.m., the GPD received a report of a young adult who said he was robbed by two males in the Thruway Shopping Center parking lot located at 1233 E. Putnam Ave. around 5:30 p.m.

According to a statement from the GPD, the suspects exited their vehicle, and approached the victim when he was getting into his vehicle, cornering him. They demanded the victim to give them his property. The victim was able to stall the suspects, but his cell phone and credit card were taken by the suspects.

“No one was physically hurt in this incident. The suspects mentioned a weapon, but none was displayed,” the GPD said.

The suspects were described as two black males, approximately 5’7″ tall. A third suspect never exited their vehicle. The incident took place in the parking lot south of the CVS, closer to East Putnam Avenue.

This investigation is being conducted by the GPD Detective Division, and authorities are requesting assistance from the public. If anyone witnessed this incident or has information that may assist in identifying the suspects, please contact the GPD at 203-622-8004 24 hours per day, or the Tip-Line 203-622-3333, or email at TIPS@greenwichct.org.
