First Selectman Fred Camillo said he’s going to be circling back with town department heads and officials on Wednesday night regarding operations at Town Hall. He noted that a reverse 911 call went out to residents earlier in the day, advising them of the storm.

“We’re expecting to get about three inches per hour — anywhere from 6-18 inches with winds gusting up between 40-50 mph. This storm is no joke,” Camillo said. “The storm is supposed to be at its most intense between 10 p.m. and 10 a.m. tomorrow morning. If you’re out there working today, keep an eye on that. Try and get home in a decent hour earlier in the evening if you can.”

Camillo also urged residents to check on their neighbors.

“Make sure you’re aware of family members and neighbors who are vulnerable, and please check on them. I can’t stress that enough. Check on people who may have underlying health issues, who may live alone that may be elderly,” he said.

Camillo also advised residents to shovel around their property, including around fire hydrants.

“Shovel not only your driveways and your own sidewalks, but the sidewalks in front of your house and around fire hydrants. It could be lifesaving.”

We will provide updates from the town on the storm as they’re available.
