As of today, Wednesday, April 1, there are 150 Greenwich residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, according to Greenwich Health Director Caroline Baisley. That is up from 137 reported on Tuesday, March 31.

As of noon today, Wednesday, April 1, 2020, there were 95 COVID-19 positive patients in Greenwich Hospital, being treated in several different units. This number reflects patients who live in Greenwich as well as from other municipalities in Connecticut and Westchester County. To date, 1,819 total outpatient swabs have been taken at the Hospital testing site. Of those, 448 tested positive.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner informed this office today that three Greenwich residents have succumbed to the COVID-19 virus: an 87-year-old man, a 96-year-old man and a 101-year-old woman. A total of seven (7) patients have died at Greenwich Hospital, according to the Medical Examiner’s Office. Not all of those patients were Greenwich residents.

Camillo reports that three of the eight private golf clubs in Town have agreed to close their golf operations until further notice. “I am pleased that three of the clubs have agreed with the Town’s desire to minimize the spread of the coronavirus by ceasing golf operations, just like we did March 22 at the Griffith E. Harris Golf Course. It is my hope that the other clubs will follow their examples,” Mr. Camillo said.

Statewide, there is good news that more than 50 credit unions and banks have agreed to provide 90-day grace periods for mortgage payments and waiting penalties and fees on late mortgage payments or early withdrawals from CDs. Among the participating financial institutions are Webster Bank, American Eagle Financial Credit Union, Liberty Bank, Charter Oak Federal Credit Union, Bank of America, Nutmeg State Financial Credit Union, and Peoples United Bank. The Department of Banking will maintain an updated list of participating institutions on its website (https://portal.ct.gov/dob)

“I know many Greenwich residents are experiencing financial hardships because of layoffs, furloughs and business shutdowns. I encourage Town residents to contact their lending institution to determine whether they are eligible to receive this much-needed assistance,” said Camillo.
