town-of-greenwich-seal

As of Friday, March 27, there are 60 Greenwich residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, according to Greenwich Health Director Caroline Baisley. That is up from 57 reported on Thursday, March 26.

As of noon today, Friday, March 27, there were 55 COVID-19 positive patients in Greenwich Hospital, being treated in several different units. This number reflects patients who live in Greenwich as well as from other municipalities in Connecticut and Westchester County. The total number of positive test results collected at the hospital’s outpatient site, is not immediately available.

The Greenwich Department of Health continues to work in Town Hall with more than half of the staff that is monitoring COVID-19 reported cases who are isolated at home; close family members of COVID-19 patients who are quarantined and being monitored for possible signs and symptoms.

Another required public health intervention measure taken by the Department of Health staff is Contact Tracing, through which the Department is monitoring people who have or may have

had a close and prolonged contact with a COVID-19 patient. If you become ill, please contact your healthcare provider and also call the Greenwich Department of Health if you were in close and prolonged contact with a person known to have COVID-19.

The Department of Health has five phone lines specifically dedicated to the public for questions and answers about COVID-19. They are: 203-622 -7865; 203-622-7703; 203-622- 7614; 203-622-7842 and 203-622-7836.

All Town libraries, parks, beaches, marinas and ‘The Griff’ golf course remain closed. Gov. Ned Lamont has further reduced the permissible number of people allowed to gather in groups. It is now six (6) people maximum while maintaining six feet of social distancing.

We appreciate all everyone is doing to maintain safe health practices including frequent hand- washing, using protective gloves and sanitizers while shopping. Please be courteous and mindful to dispose of those gloves and sanitizing clothes properly. We are experiencing an uptick in litter as shoppers are not throwing those items into the trash. The Town’s plastic bag ban remains in effect.

A reminder for food establishments

Given the unfortunate shutdown of many food preparation establishments across the state given, the Town is reminding operators of food facilities that it is important to unplug or otherwise de-energize indoor active grease recovery units (AGRUs) to prevent equipment damage caused by long periods with no drain water inflows. Failure to unplug or de-energize AGRUs during facility closures can create a potential fire hazard.

If an establishment shuts down, it must unplug or de-energize all electric grease traps. More information can be found here: https://www.greenwichct.gov/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=659 on the Department of Public Works webpage.

Metro North Reduces Schedule
