CT DMV Provides Critical Services in New Operating Model

dmv-news

The Connecticut State Department of Motor Vehicles is providing critical services to businesses and organizations in a new operating model that uses online, mail, and phone-based practices. All DMV branches are closed to the general public.

The DMV is shifting to this model to support the needs of all organizations deemed essential by Governor Ned Lamont as of March 23, 2020.

Critical services include new licenses and registrations, inspections, testing, and issuance of license plates. These services can now be administered online, by phone, by mail, through drop boxes, and the Connecticut Commercial Vehicle Operations (CVO) portal. A complete list of service support can be found at https://www.ctdmv.info.

Approximately 50 employees are currently working out of the Wethersfield office to continue providing these critical services. All other DMV branches will remain closed to the public until further notice.

Commissioner Sibongile Magubane stated, “Because of the nature of the COVID-19 public health crisis, and as a component of our COVID-19 contingency plan, we have adapted in response to the known health and safety risks to employees.” She added, “the intent is to maximize health and safety protections while maintaining DMV operations in support of critical functions that support essential services.”
