The Greenwich Choral Society announces a celebration of Beethoven’s 250th birthday, featuring a collaboration between the Greenwich Choral Society and the combined voices of the Greenwich High School auditioned choruses (Patrick Taylor, Director). Accompanying the singers will be professional soloists and instrumentalists. The concert will take place on Saturday, March 14 at 4 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center, Greenwich High School, 10 Hillside Rd.

The concert will feature excerpts of Beethoven’s choral and instrumental works, not unlike a concert from Beethoven’s own time. The program will include, among other works: Hallelujah from The Mount of Olives, Mir ist so wunderbar and Prisoner’s Chorus from Fidelio, Gloria from the Mass in C Major, Fantasia for Piano, Chorus and Orchestra and Benedictus from Missa Solemnis, a work Beethoven described as the “greatest work I have composed so far.”

Soloists include: Serena Benedetti, soprano; Greenwich’s own Holly Sorenson, Mezzo-soprano; Wesley Morgan, tenor; and Damien Savarino, bass; with Mariel Mayz, piano.

Tickets are $45 and $38, with special $20 price for students, and can be ordered at gcs-ct.org or by calling 203-622-5136. (Group sales are available by calling the GCS office.)
