Greenwich Library has added thousands of titles to its popular RBdigital news service app. First offered in 2014 as Zinio, RBdigital allows users to read and explore newspapers and magazines on their device of choice. Greenwich Library is excited to be able to offer this convenient and simple service to patrons, who now have access to a plethora of publications all with their Library card.

Using the RBdigital platform, users can now browse and download more than 3,500 magazines—up from 200. Additionally, Pressreader through RBdigital allows unlimited, no-holds access to a premier collection of newspapers that will keep the Greenwich community current on local, national and global affairs, with access to more than 3,000 newspapers (500 from the U.S. and Canada), including 90 days of back issues.

According to Eric McCarthy, Greenwich Library’s Manager of Resources Management, one of the greatest benefits of the updated service is the access it provides to thousands of foreign language publications. “Greenwich is home to people from all over the country and the world, who can now easily read a newspaper from their hometown or home country,” said McCarthy, who uses the app to read his own hometown newspaper, The Saratogian. “This expanded service allows us to better serve our community. There are newspapers in 60 different languages available from around the world, Albania to Zimbabwe, as well as leading U.S. newspapers including Boston HeraldChicago TribuneLos Angeles Times and New York Post.”

The RBdigital magazine collection is searchable by title and by 43 different genres, including Food & Cooking, Family & Parenting, Celebrity & Gossip, Home & Garden, Travel, Business, Current Affairs, Hobbies, Pets and much more.  The unique digital platform recreates a magazine page-for-page, including highly visual, full-color pictures.

Greenwich Library’s Digital Library continues to grow in popularity. Over the past four years, circulation of digital magazines has doubled. With this new RBdigital platform, users have the option to subscribe to a magazine or newspaper and then new issues will automatically download when they become available. Users can find content by searching papers for topics, reporters and contributors, and they can even set up news feeds and have articles on selected topics sent directly to their device.
