Keeping true to our mission of uncovering unmet health, education and self-sufficiency needs in Greenwich since 1933, the Greenwich United Way (GUW) announces the launch of our 2020 Needs Assessment and we need the community’s help.

It is hard to believe that it has been 4 years since the GUW published our last “Assessment of Human Service Needs & State of Greenwich Statistical Report” (Needs Assessment).

Every 4 to 5 years, we compile, via surveys, focus groups, mailings, and other means, the data that acts as our blueprint to ensure we can develop and fund programs that helps ensure every member of our community has the opportunity to be healthy, educated and self-sufficient. Past Needs Assessments have resulted in the development of some of our town’s most valued programs and institutions: The GUW Early Childhood Achievement Gap Solutions (ECAGS) program, Greenwich Commission on Aging, Kids in Crisis, River House, YWCA Domestic Abuse Service, and Abilis, to name a few.

Much of the data in the 2020 Needs Assessment will come from you. We will be sending surveys to all Greenwich residents soon. They will be sent electronically via email and in the US mail. This data collection will play a vital role in the content of the report. The more surveys we receive back, the better statistical sampling we will have to ensure that we can address the human services needs for the next few years, thereby keeping Greenwich the premier place it is to live, work, raise a family and retire in.

Please be on the lookout for these surveys in the next couple of months. As an added incentive, if you complete the survey and choose to give us your contact info, you will be placed in a drawing for 2 tickets to “The Funniest Night of the Year”, our annual Brew-Ha-Ha Comedy Night in September and other fun prizes.

With your input, the 2020 Needs Assessment will be the most robust and informative one we have ever produced, making it a tool for ALL to use.

Thank you in advance for your support of this critical endeavor. If you have any questions, please contact me directly at the Greenwich United Way.
