‘The Crown Revisited’ Concert

thecrownconcert

Birth, marriage, coronation, betrayal, divorce, beheading, death, and reinvention. There’s never a dull moment with the British Royals. Inspired by the hit Netflix series “The Crown,” conductor Mark Kaczmarczyk will present a musical evening celebrating music of the Royal Court entitled “The Crown Revisited” on Saturday, Nov. 16, 7 p.m., at Christ Church Greenwich, 254 East Putnam Ave.

“There’s so much magnificent music, both new and old, which is associated with the British Royals”, says Kaczmarczyk. ““The Crown Revisited” celebrates some of the most iconic music associated with the British Royal Family.”

The evening’s program performed by St. Michael The Archangel Choir and featuring soprano soloist Deborah Lifton, faculty member at the Hartt School, will feature Coronation anthems by Handel as well as an original program Kaczmarczyk has curated entitled “Try me, Dear King,” a monodrama for soprano solo and piano, based on the letters from the wives of Henry VIII, musically set by American contemporary composer Libby Larsen. These musical settings of the letters from Katherine of Aragon, Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour, Anne of Cleaves, and Kathryn Howard are deeply personal pleadings of women drawn into the political intrigue and psychodrama of Henry VIII, set by one of America’s leading classical female composers. The concert will conclude with Mozart’s thrilling “Jupiter Symphony”, no. 41.

Tickets are $25 general seating and $10 students, and may be purchased online at stmichaelgreenwich.com or by phone 203-869-5421.
