Hosted by the International School at Dundee (ISD) Parent Teacher Association (PTA), the 3rd annual Greenwich Color Challenge fun run and obstacle course took place on Saturday, October 5. Approximately 400 pounds of color were used to “dust” the 600 participants who came out for the action-packed, community-wide event.

All proceeds raised from the Greenwich Color Challenge will directly benefit PTA-sponsored educational enrichment programs. This year’s Challenge included a new 1.1-mile course with 10-plus obstacles and six color stations—where kids and adults got sprinkled with safe, non-toxic, washable powder, all in the spirit of having good, clean “dirty” fun. “The new and improved foam pit was especially popular and had everyone swimming through piles of foam!” says Michelle O’Donnell, ISD PTA Co-Vice President of Fundraising. Over 100 volunteers, including members of the ISD community and Greenwich High School students, helped man the color stations and obstacles. Families from more than 20 area schools came out to take part in the event and participants ranged in age from infants to 74 years-old!

At the finish line, runners passed through a celebratory “rainbow finale,” involving an especially colorful array of powder, and everyone received a high-five and ribbon. “This year’s Greenwich Color Challenge was such a huge success,” says O’Donnell. “We couldn’t think of a better way to enjoy a beautiful day than by being surrounded by the smiling faces and amazing energy of our community! We’re so proud of all who took part in this day to benefit our school.”

The Greenwich Color Challenge couldn’t happen without the support of generous sponsors: Dental Oral Surgery, Ada’s Kitchen + Coffee, Atelier Constantin Popescu, Awosting Camp, Beta Shim, Breezemont, Children’s Dentistry and Orthodontics of Greenwich, Coldwell Banker—Harumi Stewart, County Appliance and TV, Garden Catering, Greenwich Window Treatments, Gutter Guys, Hello Dental, Jones Street Investment Partners, Macinspires, Mathnasium, Patriot Bank, PM Amusements & Special Events, Russian School of Mathematics, Sound Beach Pediatrics, Stop & Shop, Sushi Soba, The Waverly Group, Trinity Church, Velocity Print Solutions, Venture Photography, William Raveis—Michael Cary, Zaniac and the ISD community and neighbors.
