C. Parker Gallery presents “The Art of Woodstock – 30 Days of Peace, Love and Artwork,” from Thursday, Aug. 1 through Saturday, Aug. 30.

50 years ago, a music and arts festival took place on Yasgur’s Farm in upstate New York. This cultural phenomenon now known as Woodstock was billed as “An Aquarian Exposition: 3 Days of Peace & Music.” C. Parker Gallery brings the “art” back to the Festival with 30 days of Peace, Love and Artwork featuring works from many of the original Woodstock performers such as Jimi Hendrix, the Grateful Dead, Santana, The Who, plus an original painting from Graham Nash.

“The Art of Woodstock” will also include a special collection of fine art photographs from Woodstock official photographer Baron Wolman who documented the festival for Rolling Stone Magazine. Baron’s photographs go beyond the music and open a window into how life was during the festival. The exhibit will also showcase Wolman’s photographs of musicians who performed at Woodstock such as Joan Baez, Santana, Grateful Dead, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Janis Joplin, Sly & the Family Stone, The Who, Jefferson Airplane, The Band, Johnny Winter, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young and Jimi Hendrix.

The Art of Woodstock takes the stage on Thursday, Aug. 1 and runs through 30 days of Peace & Love closing on Friday, Aug. 30.

This event is part of an ongoing series by C. Parker Gallery that focuses on the intimate connection between the music and art worlds, as well as providing family events that connect individuals of all ages to art. The exhibit is free and all works are available for purchase.

Parker Gallery is located at 409 Greenwich Ave. To learn more, visit cparkergallery.com
