ASOG Bendheim Gallery Show on Exhibit Through July 19

The Art Society of Old Greenwich presented awards in the ASOG Open Juried Show at the Bendheim Gallery, Greenwich Arts Council. In this show, which is on exhibit until July 19, artists, both ASOG members and non-members, offer an array of artworks, as selected by juror Molleen Theodore, Associate Curator of Programs at the Yale University Art Gallery and education lecturer at the Museum of Modern Art.

ASOG’s Bendheim show offers a range of subjects from traditional to contemporary in oil, acrylic, watercolor, drawing/graphics/pastel, photography, sculpture, and mixed media. Theodore, who also judged the show, selected first, second and third place winners in each category, plus one honorable mention. All of these works of art are currently on display.

Awards were presented to artists at the show’s reception at Bendheim on June 21, with first place winners receiving $100 cash prizes; second, third and honorable mention receiving ribbons. First place winners were Chet Saur, oil; Maria C. Friscia, acrylic; Thom Ecay, watercolor and drawing/graphics/pastel; Olaf Sööt, black and white photography; Gregory Presley, color photography; Carolyn Lyngholm, mixed media; and Nancy Hamilton, sculpture.

Artists receiving second place awards were Elena Powell Abrahams, mixed media; Kathie Milligan, oil; Sofia Kanavou, acrylic; Margaret Esme Simon, drawing/graphics/pastel; Sotiraq Kuqali, watercolor; Julie DiBiase, black and white photography; Marlene Sloan, sculpture; and Robert Sherwin, color photography.

Third place winners were Nina Cocchi, mixed media; Sherri Paul, oil; Carolyn Lyngholm, acrylic; Suzanne Simpson, watercolor, and drawing/graphics/pastel; John-Marc Bara, black and white photography; Joe Sorge, sculpture; and Julie DiBiase, color photography. An honorable mention went to Gregory Presley, for color photography.

The Bendheim Gallery, located at 299 Greenwich Ave., is open Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on weekends, 12 to 4 p.m. Admission is free.
