Jill Oberlander Announces Campaign for Greenwich First Selectman

By Richard Kaufman

Current Greenwich Board of Estimate and Taxation Chair, Jill Oberlander, has thrown her hat into the ring for First Selectman.

Oberlander, a democrat, announced yesterday that she will be teaming up with fellow democrat and Selectman Sandy Litvack, who also announced he will be seeking re-election.

“Like many other communities, Greenwich is at a turning point and faces important challenges that will affect our future and our children’s future. I want to be the First Selectman to help guide Greenwich into the future,” Oberlander said in a press release. “I am committed to maintaining the high quality of our schools and preserving access to our treasured recreational resources. My campaign also will focus on environmental concerns and prioritizing smart government policies that support existing residents and attract businesses and residents to Greenwich. Together with Sandy, I am confident we have the team to move Greenwich forward.”

Litvack also said he was eager to team up with Oberlander to build on Greenwich’s foundation of sound financial practices, quality schools and overall character.

“In order to continue improving, we must start with invigorating our local economy,” added Litvack. “My years in the corporate world have taught me that in order to overcome challenges, we must address them directly and assemble the right team to achieve a goal. We have an abundance of that kind of talent in Greenwich, and Jill and I will work to take advantage of that talent to develop sound and effective solutions.”

Oberlander now joins Republicans Fred Camillo and Michael Mason, who announced their candidacy for Greenwich’s top spot a couple months ago.

Litvack joins a Selectman group that includes Republicans Granit Balidemaj, a Business Development Manager for Southern Glazer’s Wine and Spirits; Joe Kelly, Greenwich High School Rugby Coach and CEO of Uranium Markets; and Dan Quigley, an RTM member from District 1.
