Greenwich Public Schools (GPS) Director of Communications, Kimberley Eves, has accepted a position with Greenwich Country Day School as the Director of Strategic Communications, effective July 1. Ms. Eves said, “For almost nineteen years the Greenwich Public Schools has provided me with a wonderful opportunity to combine my passions for communications and education in a career path that I love. I have a rare opportunity to take on a new and exciting challenge at Greenwich Country Day School as they launch a new high school after over 90 years as a Nursery through Grade 9 school. During my time with the Greenwich Public Schools I have had the opportunity to work with and forge friendships with some of the most intelligent, caring, hard-working and dedicated people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. I will truly miss working with our amazing GPS team!’”
Over the course of her GPS tenure, Ms. Eves has played an integral role in the internal and external communications and engagement efforts that have enhanced and strengthened the consistent and powerful message that Greenwich Public Schools is a District of distinction. Her recent accomplishments include: a redesign of the District website, including establishing accessibility and content standards (both of which have been recognized by the Connecticut Association of Boards of Education for excellence); strategic communications planning and support for the facilities master plan; leading the development of the District’s Family and Community Engagement Standards; coordinating the opening celebrations and marketing for the new New Lebanon School as a magnet school; and developing a strategic communications action plan for our transition to a digital (blended) learning environment.
Interim Superintendent of Schools Ralph Mayo shared, “Kim Eves has devoted the last nineteen years of her life to the Greenwich Public Schools. She cares deeply about our District and the students that attend our schools. Communication is just a small portion of her current position as she has used all of her skills and extensive knowledge to help develop and implement multiple strategies in support of the District’s Strategic Plan to keep the District moving forward on many fronts. The talents and skills that she brings to the Central Office are nothing short of outstanding, and I am personally saddened about her departure as she has truly set the standard for excellence in public education. Ms. Eves is an outstanding colleague and a good friend and I will miss working with her each day. We wish her well in her new position and will truly miss her smile and positive attitude as she moves on to the next phase of her career.”
The search process for a new Director of Communications will begin immediately.
Bio Brief: Kimberley D. Eves
Ms. Eves has held the position of Director of Communications for the Greenwich Public Schools since 2000. During this time, she has been responsible for the Strategic Communications Plan, internal and external communications and community relations, media relations, website design, accessibility and content management, awards and events management and issues and crisis communications. Ms. Eves is a liaison to the Board of Education and has primary responsibility for board meeting agenda planning and development.
Ms. Eves began her career as an Accounts Supervisor for Opt-X Advertising in Clifton, NJ before establishing Dearborn Associates in Old Greenwich, CT as the Principle Owner in 1995. Beginning in 1998, she spearheaded and served as a Co-Founder of the International School at Dundee in the Greenwich Public Schools, which opened as the District’s first public magnet school in 2001.
Ms. Eves received a bachelor of science degree in Business Administration from Northeastern University, Boston, Mass. and a master of science degree in Strategic Communications from Columbia University, New York City, N.Y.
Ms. Eves’ affiliations include the National School Public Relations Association, and serves as the Connecticut Chapter (ConnSPRA) President; the Greenwich Alliance for Education as a co-founding and GPS liaison member; Greenwich Distinguished Teachers Awards Committee as an ex-officio member and as a member of the United Way of Greenwich Community Planning Council.
