Cos Cob School Assistant Principal Michael Reid announced today that he has accepted a position as a Grade 2 teacher at North Mianus School effective with the new school year (2019-2020). Mr. Reid said, “I am looking forward to getting back into the classroom and working directly with students to impact their lives in a meaningful way. I would like to thank all the dedicated professionals I have had the chance to collaborate with over the last two years in the role of Assistant Principal. I am very excited to return to North Mianus School and to the classroom.”

Cos Cob School Principal Gene Schmidt notes, “Mike made a seamless transition to our school this year, after previously serving as our instructional coach. His knowledge of our school and staff was crucial in addressing the flood and subsequent relocation of Cos Cob School this fall. Mike jumped right in and became the in-school administrator at Old Greenwich School and traveled to Parkway School to ensure that our student, staff and parent needs were met. Throughout the year he has updated and streamlined our RTI and SAT procedures, working with staff to support them and their students. Mike ‘s contributions as Assistant Principal have played an important role in maintaining a positive, inviting school community.”

Mr. Reid taught at North Mianus School (NMS) prior to becoming an instructional coach and then, Assistant Principal. NMS Principal Angela Schmidt said “Mike was a beloved member of our school community. He is innovative and dedicated to the needs of all students. We look forward to the training and expertise he will bring to his teaching role and are so pleased to have him return “home.”
