As spring beckons, it’s time to clear out those old financial, legal and medical documents that contain sensitive personal information. Bring them along to be shredded on Saturday, April 27 from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. to the Island Beach parking lot. The Greenwich Recycling Advisory Board and Greenwich Green & Clean are once again offering this opportunity to protect residents against identity theft while capturing paper for recycling.

Co-sponsored by The First Bank of Greenwich and Santaguida Sanitation, this Earth Day event is a reminder to keep paper out of the trash.

Residents are requested to take time to sort through papers so that only those containing sensitive information are shredded. Remove folders, cardboard, metal clips, binders, plastic, covers, books, newspapers, and magazines. Staples are okay. Do not bag, put paper in a box or rigid container, measuring approximately 12”x18”x12”. There is a five-box maximum per car at a cost of $2 per box.

Additionally, this year any new, unopened toiletries such as tooth brushes, tooth paste, shampoo, soaps and lotions can be dropped off and will be distributed to Neighbor-to-Neighbor.
