Historical Society to Host Genealogy Workshops

genealogy-is-for-everyone

Genealogy is all the rage and now area residents have an opportunity to have an expert help them discover their family histories. Through a series of four workshops, participants will learn genealogy conventions and best practices and research strategies, including DNA testing, for finding links to their past.

The four-week class will be taught by Greenwich resident Janeen Bjork whose engaging and interactive presentation style uses audience participation with actual examples and case studies to prepare students to find family members and stories about their lives. While each of the four sessions builds off one another, they can be taken individually. No prior experience is necessary. All materials will be provided, but attendees can bring laptops or wireless devices to aid in research.

The workshops will take place April 16, April 23, April 30 and May 7 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.

Single session for members is: $15; full course, $50; non-members: single session, $20; full course, $70. Reserve by visiting greenwichhistory.org or by calling 203-869-6899, ext. 10.
