Alexandra Bartholomew will be the Principal for New Lebanon School, effective July 1, 2019.

SUPERINTENDENT APPOINTS NEW LEBANON SCHOOL PRINCIPAL

Ralph Mayo, interim Superintendent of Schools, announces the appointment of Alexandra Bartholomew as the Principal for New Lebanon School, effective July 1, 2019.

Bartholomew has family ties to Greenwich. Her grandfather brought his family to Greenwich in the 1960s and her father and uncle attended the Greenwich Public Schools. Currently Principal of Anderson & McGrath Elementary School in Grand Blanc, MI, said she is, “incredibly excited and honored to be joining the New Lebanon School and larger Greenwich community.”

Mayo noted, “Alexandra is an experienced building administrator who brings a wealth of knowledge of instructional practices, professional learning, and school improvement planning to our school district. Each of these skills will support the work that is currently taking place at New Lebanon School. The programs and wrap-around services she has initiated have helped to improve academic achievement and the overall climate of her school. We are very excited that she will be joining our leadership team and I look forward to helping her transition to her new position in July.”

With the Anderson & McGrath Elementary School in Grand Blanc, MI, Bartholomew has worked hard to support teachers, resulting in 100% retention rate. She has also implemented strategies to improve student performance, reduce behavior issues through restorative practices and mindfulness, and engage parents, increasing event attendance by 300% and donation revenue by 50%.

Bartholomew began her career in education as a Learning Specialist and Special Education College Counselor with Rauner College Prep in Chicago, IL. In 2012, she became the Dean of Specialized Instruction for Rauner, advocating for inclusion and targeted student interventions.

She was a Finalist for the Sue Lehmann Excellence in Teaching Award, Teach For America’s highest honor. As a Recruitment Manager for TFA since 2016, Bartholomew has recruited students committed to educational equity as teachers in public schools.

Bartholomew received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. MI; a Master of Arts degree in Teaching, Special Education from National Louis University, Chicago, IL; and a Master’s in Education degree in School Leadership from Harvard University, Cambridge, MA in 2016.
