Obituary: Florence Orlando

Florence Marie Dowd Orlando (Flo) of Greenwich, CT passed away peacefully on Jan. 29, 2019 at Greenwich Hospital. She was 83. Flo leaves behind her adoring husband of 62 years, Lou, her loving son Lou, III and wife Betsy of Rye, N.H., grandchildren Matt, Jason and Jennifer, brother James Dowd and wife Connie of Stuart, Fla., brother-in-law Dick Holman and wife Helen of Easton, Mass. and several nieces and nephews: Debbie Holman, Joan (Holman) Soloman, Amy (Holman) Ryan, Kathy (Dowd) Macia, Tim Dowd, Chris Dowd, Jim Dowd, Jr., Mary Beth (Dowd) Morgan, and Patrick Dowd. She was predeceased by her mother Florence Dowd and sister Patricia Holman.

Flo was an avid swimmer and loved spending her days at the beach. She and Big Lou retired to Florida in the 1990’s and lived there for over 20 years until returning in the spring of 2017 to Parsonage Cottage in Greenwich. Flo was a retired Spanish teacher, worked for the town of Greenwich in the Dept. of Social Services, and was a graduate of the Latin American Institute.

To honor her life, family and friends gathered Feb. 1 at Coxe and Graziano Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Feb. 2 at St. Paul’s Church, Greenwich, followed by interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Greenwich.
