The Department of Parks and Recreation announces that online registration for Small Fry 1 baseball will begin Jan. 28. Any Greenwich resident may sign up online at greenwichct.org/webtrac and select activity registration. Mail in registration will begin on Feb. 11. In person registration begins Monday, Feb 25.

Small Fry 1 is for children who will turn six by April 30, 2019. In this program the children will be divided into teams and practice will precede a 3 inning game vs another team. Parents will receive a schedule, and games will be played at designated times between 1 and 5 p.m. each Saturday for 1.5 hours. The program will be supervised and coached by volunteer parents.

This program will continue the Parks and Recreation baseball progression and children will start to learn how to hit live pitching thrown by the coaches as well as learn how to run the bases, and play the field.

Children turning seven years old by April 30, 2019 are not eligible. Please see the Parks and Recreation Small Fry II program for more information.

The program will meet on Saturday afternoons April 27 to June 8 at the Barradas field next to the Bendheim Western Greenwich Civic Center. The cost of the program is $95 and includes a team shirt and hat.

For more information, and to obtain a registration form, please visit greenwichct.gov, or call the Bendheim Western Greenwich Civic Center at 203-532-1259.
