Bruce Museum Offers Free Admission to Furloughed Federal Workers

The Bruce Museum is offering free admission to all furloughed federal workers and their families throughout the remainder of the partial federal government shutdown.

“The Bruce Museum is committed to being an inclusive, welcoming place of cultural engagement and community fellowship,” says Suzanne Lio, Managing Director. “This is surely a trying time for these federal employees, and we’re pleased to be able to give them the opportunity to enjoy our exhibitions and family programs – and to feel appreciated.”

To receive free admission, federal employees must bring a government identification card and present it at the Visitor Services desk upon entering the Museum.

In addition to this temporary offer to furloughed federal workers, the Bruce Museum is a proud participant in the Blue Star Museums program, offering free admission year-round to all active-duty U.S. military personnel and their families with identification.

The Bruce also takes part in Museums for All, an initiative of the Institute of Museum & Library Services that gives up to four individuals in the same group free admission with the presentation of one EBT card. This program is in effect during regular business hours and does not apply to lectures or other special programs.

What’s more, the Bruce offers free individual admission to all visitors every Tuesday.

Upcoming special programs include Winter Family Day on Monday, Jan. 21, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This special school-holiday program will feature arts projects and live performances that help put in perspective Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy and teachings.

Families are encouraged to give back on MLK Day and receive free admission by contributing a canned food item to our community food drive with Neighbor to Neighbor, a non-profit organization dedicated to serving residents in need throughout the Greenwich area.

The Bruce Museum will be providing engaging experiences and activities for young children and their caregivers throughout the winter. Scheduled programs include:
