Patricia Elaine Roddy passed away peacefully on Dec. 23, 2018 in Martha’s Vineyard under the loving care of her family. Pat was born on Aug. 21, 1928 in Greenwich, CT to the late Captain John W. Burke and Mary K. (Bliss) Burke.

She was predeceased by her sister Gloria Allaire, beloved husband of 60 years Maurice F. Roddy, son-in-law David Willey, and granddaughter Bridget Potvin.

Pat graduated from Greenwich High School and worked in banking. She married her high school sweetheart Maurice (Zip) Roddy on Sept. 3, 1949. They moved to Schenectady, N.Y. while Zip earned his civil engineering degree from Union College. They returned to Greenwich, CT where they continued to build their family and home at 8 Skylark Rd.

Pat is survived by one sister Gwen Laughlin of Cos Cob, CT, and sister-in-law Celine Crothers of Greenwich, CT. She was loved and adored by her seven children: Susan Roddy (Glen Fuller), Patricia Roddy (Tom Tolar), Sharon Coogan (Greg Coogan), Nancy (Nansu) Roddy, Jacqueline Willey, Barbara J. Roddy (Russ Peters), and Bryan Roddy (Deborah Roddy), also 16 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

When the children were young Pat introduced them to ice skating on the Mianus River and Bruce Park. This is where the legacy of hockey began in the family. Childhood summers were spent at Tod’s Point and Island Beach, winter’s at the family house in Ludlow. Vermont brought many celebrations with family and friends. Pat loved volunteering at St. Mary’s Guild and loved her time and friends she had there. Pat’s life was dedicated to friends and family, traveling to Washington, Montana, Alaska, and Martha’s Vineyard. A highpoint in her life was traveling to Ireland with family and friends. She loved to attend sporting events, music events, and activities that included her grandchildren. Her love of entertaining can be remembered with each Super Bowl Party and Luncheons she hosted for the Secretaries at the Town Hall. She will always be remembered as a fun loving person with incredible style and a loving and generous heart.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Dec. 28 at St. Mary’s Church, Greenwich. Interment followed in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Greenwich.

The Roddy family will be forever grateful for the care provided by Christiana Adusei (Sostek Home Care), your care was beautiful and loving. Please continue to celebrate life in her memory and make chocolate chip cookies, brownies and macaroni and cheese for your loved ones.
