Steven Katz, Vice-Chairman of the Greenwich Commission on Aging, and Lori Contadino, director of Greenwich’s Commission on Aging.

Lori Contadino and Steven Katz will speak on “Age Friendly Greenwich… A Community for All Ages,” at The Retired Men’s Association (RMA) Meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 9 at 11 a.m., at the First Presbyterian Church. The program is free and open to the community.

Last spring the Greenwich community participated in a survey directed at all aspects of life for persons 45 years and over. The Age and Dementia Friendly Initiative will share the results of this survey and their proposed action plan at the RMA meeting. Greenwich seeks to be the first community in Connecticut to be certified as age-friendly.

The study focused on the proposed steps needed to enhance our community for persons 45 years and older, and by doing so, enhance our community for persons of all ages. Attendees will be hearing from two people from the Greenwich Commission on Aging, Lori Contadino, Director of the Commission on Aging; and Steven Katz, Vice-Chairman of the Commission.

Contadino is responsible for identifying and responding to the needs of our senior citizens; she formulates plans and sets priorities for improved services. She advocates for these needs, and does outreach throughout Greenwich. Lori is also responsible for the management of the Greenwich Senior Center.

Contadino holds a Master’s Degree with distinction in gerontology. She is also an adjunct faculty member of the College of New Rochelle, Graduate School and is the recipient of numerous awards. She has 34 years of experience in this field.

Katz is the Vice-Chairman of the Greenwich Commission on Aging. He is a Board Member of the Southwest Connecticut Agency on Aging and President of Sterling Care, a certified home health agency, a non-medical companion and homemaker agency which provides geriatric care in Greenwich. He is also an Adjunct Professor of Health Care Policy and Management at Columbia University’s School of Public Health.

Katz has a MPH from Columbia University, a LL.M in Taxation from the NYU School of Law; he has MBAs in Finance and Accounting, a JD from Fordham University and a BA in Psychology from Brandeis University.
