Putnam Hill Daughters of the American Revolution (D.A.R) presented the winners of the D.A.R Good Citizens award with a ceremony and desserts given by award Chairman’s, Dorothy Darlington and Sally Bretschger at Putnam Cottage on Nov. 8. The winners were selected by their house master and guidance counselor at Greenwich High School as the recipients of the D.A.R Good Citizen award for the five Greenwich High School houses. This prestigious award is given to five outstanding senior high school students (one from each house) who excel in qualities of academics, leadership, service, dependability, and patriotism in their home, school and community.  This award’s committee was created by a resolution of the Continental Congress of 1934.

The D.A.R. Good Citizen program is open to senior class students enrolled in accredited private or public high schools, of which are in good standing with the State Board of Education. The Putnam Hill DAR of Greenwich is running a campaign to increase membership and encourages anyone who has an interest, even if they are not sure they could qualify to trace back to a patriot of the American Revolution, to reach out. Genealogical assistance can be given. Anyone interested in joining can contact putnamhilldar@gmail.com
