Antiquarius Kicks Off the Holiday Season in High Style

Whether you’re interested in touring Greenwich’s most spectacular homes, a design maven, a lover of fine antiques or eager to get a jump on holiday shopping, Antiquarius, the Greenwich Historical Society’s annual series of high style holiday events, is just the ticket.

Festivities begin Friday, Nov. 30 with an opening night party for the Greenwich Winter Antiques Show: Fine Art, Jewelry and Antiques at the Eastern Greenwich Civic Center, with Winter Wonderland décor styled by Honorary Design Co-chairs David Monn and Alex Papachristidis. Monn is known for orchestrating noteworthy parties from White House state dinners to the Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Papachristidis, an Elle Décor A-Lister and a member of the Architectural Digest Top 100, is one of today’s foremost tastemakers, recognized for his eclectic and sophisticated flair.

In addition to enjoying cocktails, passed bites, and a buffet dinner, guests can be the first to browse the array of items from approximately 40 nationally recognized exhibitors featuring fine art, estate jewelry, American and Continental furniture, luxury handbags, decorative objects, and more from the 18th century to the mid-20th century with a broad range of styles and price points.

The event, held at the Eastern Greenwich Civic Center, 90 Harding Rd., is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1 and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 2.

Curious about the value of a family heirloom or an estate sale find? Attend a free lecture and make an appointment on Saturday, Dec. 1 for an appraisal with a representative from RAGO Arts and Auction Center.

Holiday Boutique

The Holiday Boutique at Greenwich Country Club will feature 40 carefully curated vendors offering everything from monogrammed children’s items to knitwear, semi-precious sparkles, décor and sweet treats. Preview the Holiday Boutique Tuesday, Dec. 4 from 6 to 8:30 p.m.; the boutique will be open Wednesday, Dec. 5 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Holiday House Tour

Antiquarius culminates with the Holiday House Tour, a once-a-year opportunity to visit private Greenwich homes, all decked out for the holidays. The five homes this year range in architecture and interior design style and include a 1700s estate with a ballroom, Jeff Koons art, and red lacquer mudroom; and a newly built French manor house.

Ticketholders receive a map of Greenwich pinpointing the conveniently located shuttle stops where transportation is available to each home. The homes on the tour can be visited at leisure Wednesday, Dec. 5 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. An optional luncheon at Greenwich Country Club, open to all, is available from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Advance reservations are required for both the House Tour and luncheon.
